Michael Cassidy (born March 20, 1983) is an American actor. He portrayed Jimmy Olsen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Senior Airman Kelly (credited as SGT. Kelly) in Army of the Dead. Both of these roles were brief but pivotal, resulting in the character's quick death in the desert.
Zack Snyder originally had Jesse Eisenberg in mind for the role of Jimmy Olsen, but after meeting with him, Snyder decided he'd work better as Lex Luthor, creating the opening for Cassidy. Coincidentally, Cassidy had previously played another member of the Luthor family on Smallville. He was the protagonist of his Army of the Dead scene, which set up the zombie plague that defines the entire Armyverse. This scene took place at dusk, which Snyder was able to catch on film due to RED Digital Cinema's invention of a new light sensor that was created specifically for the movie. Cassidy's role was meant to be filmed very quickly, but due to the very brief time period in which that specific lighting occurs, the shoot took two weeks.
