Kurt Johnstad is an American writer. He worked as Zack Snyder's dolly grip starting in the early '90s while Zack was shooting commercials.[1] He wrote 300 and 300: Rise of an Empire with Cruel and Unusual Films, and also helped develop the Rebel Moon story with Snyder long before Rebel Moon was picked up by Netflix. He co-wrote the Horse Latitudes screenplay with Snyder, which at the time was known as The Last Photograph. The duo also wrote Blood and Ashes during the Covid-19 pandemic, and while it wasn’t picked up by Warner Bros, the Stone Quarry has gained the rights.
During the production of Aquaman, Johnstad started writing one of two competing scripts, which ultimately wasn’t chosen.
Johnstad was nominated for the Best Writing award by the Saturn Awards for his work on 300 alongside Zack Snyder and Michael B. Gordon.
