Eric Newman is an American film producer. He obtained the rights to produce a remake of 1978's Dawn of the Dead, 2004's Dawn of the Dead, for which he drafted James Gunn to write and Zack Snyder to direct, granting Snyder his first directorial feature film. He later also produced Gunn's first directorial film, Slither.
Newman formed Strike Entertainment (which produced Dawn of the Dead) with Marc Abraham and Thomas A. Bliss in 2000, then after an amicable dissolution, he went on to found his own production company in 2014, Grand Electric, through which he produced Rebel Moon alongside The Stone Quarry.
