Zack Snyder Wiki

"I would mop the floor for Zack - whatever he wanted me to do I'd be there. I would play Superman -- if Kevin Costner drops out, he wants me to play Superman's dad, I'm in for that. At one point I was [doubting that I would continue with acting] and actually [Sucker Punch], to be honest with you, is the one that's brought me back and made me realize this is absolutely what I want to do. I have faith in this industry. If a movie-making experience can be this positive and this much fun, then I can't imagine ever doing anything else."

Emily Browning, IndieWire

Emily Browning (born December 7, 1988) is an Australian actress and one of her most famous roles is that of Babydoll, the protagonist of Sucker Punch. She's one of the few leads across Zack Snyder's projects that has yet to work with the director again, especially among the Sucker Punch cast, which is full of repeat Cruel and Unusual Films/The Stone Quarry actors.

In addition to starring in the movie, Browning sang "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)", "Where is My Mind?", and "Asleep" for the film's soundtrack. When Snyder informed her that portraying Babydoll would include singing, she initially decided to pass on the role, but Snyder convinced her to give it a try.

Biography[]

Emily Browning was born in Melbourne, Australia, on December 7, 1988. Browning attended Eltham High School, one of the few non-uniform schools in Australia. She has two younger brothers. Her parents are Andrew and Shelley and they are divorced. She claims that her parents weren't like typical stage parents and never pushed her to do anything she didn't want to.

Browning is most famous for her 2004 role as Violet Baudelaire in Lemony Snicket's: A Series of Unfortunate Events in which she appeared alongside Jim Carrey and Meryl Streep. She appeared in the 2009 adaptation of Korean horror film A Tale of Two Sisters, entitled The Uninvited and directed by the Guard Brothers alongside Arielle Kebbel. Originally, Browning auditioned for the role of Alex because she wanted to ease her way back into acting after a three-year acting break to finish high school, but she was cast as Anna and accepted. She later stated that she regretted the film's name change and felt that it wasn't marketed very well. Most of the reviews for The Uninvited were decent to very good, though it did not garner much box office success.

At the time of Sucker Punch's release, Browning was dating Jeremy Irons' son, Max Irons. After Sucker Punch, Browning was next seen as Lucy in 2011's Sleeping Beauty. Her later films include Summer in February, Plush (both 2013), Pompeii (2014), and Legend (2015). She starred as Laura Moon in the Starz TV series American Gods (2017–2021), which also featured Peter Stormare.
