Army of Thieves is a German-American film directed by Matthias Schweighöfer and written by Shay Hatten. The film was produced by Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, and Wesley Coller of The Stone Quarry and Matthias Schweighöfer and Dan Maag of Pantaleon Films. The film was released by Netflix.

In this prequel to Army of the Dead, a mysterious woman recruits bank teller Dieter to assist in the heist of a series of impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.

September 3, 2020, Netflix announced that the multi-language prequel was in development and to be directed by Matthias Schweighöfer and a screenplay by Shay Hatten. According to Deborah Snyder, the Army of the Dead prequel is called Army of Thieves.
Filming[]
On October 17, 2020, Zack Snyder announced on Twitter that the movie began filming in the week of October 17 - 24.[1] On December 22, 2020, he announced on Twitter that the movie had wrapped production.[2] Matthias Schweighöfer homaged Dawn of the Dead with the shot of the zombie girl in the hallway. They even attempted to find the same dress that Vivian wore in the original scene, but had to settle on a similar one.[3]
